Schools out!

Today on the blog we’re sharing tips to strongly encourage you to deal with the post school year dump (backpacks and desks filled with souvenirs of the school year that has come and gone!).  It won't be easier come Fall so do yourself a favor and check it off your list now!

The post school year purge:

  • Tee shirt keepsake - Do you have a pile of school activity, sports shirts and jerseys that you simply can’t part with but will never be worn again?  Consider turning them into a keepsake quilt that your kiddo will cherish!  There are so many talented vendors on Etsy who we love!

  • Art storage - Choose around twenty items per school year per kid to keep in a documents box or file folder.  The rest can go.  Consider taking quick snaps of some of your little artist’s greatest creations if you’re having a hard time saying goodbye.

  • Use this opportunity to purge study areas and toss, toss, toss.  Roughly used school supplies, binders, broken pencils - they need to go.  The urge to buy fresh school supplies come the fall is undeniable!  If you’re feeling motivated and generous, you can replace old school supplies with fresh crafts to keep kids busy during summer months.

  • Coat closets - If your closets are still stuffed with warm coats for early school mornings, consider putting them away for the season.  Also, take a moment to realistically evaluate if items will be too small to be put back into the rotation come the new school year.

  • Assess the state of backpacks and lunch boxes when the school year ends - will you need to replace them or will they serve their purpose for one more year?  Avoid the back to school scrabble by ordering new.

School is out, but there’s still time to get prepped before Fall hits!
